Two Students chosen as University Medical Center Foundation Ambassadors

Two Students chosen as University Medical Center Foundation Ambassadors

The University Medical Center sponsors UMC Foundation Kids Corp and Teen Corp. Each year our school nominates two students to participate in opportunities for leadership training , personal growth and meaningful community service. The middle school representative for the year 2011-2012 is Emily Guo and Daniela Mireles will represent the high school. Students meet once a month at the medical center with others from across El Paso County for leadership training. Last year our high school ambassador, Miren Pena ambassador, Miren Pena, participated in volunteer work at El Paso Children’s Hospital, hosted information booths at local businesses for fundraising purposes, and most recently assisted with the Jinglebell Rock Marathon held December 3, on the streets surrounding the UMC grounds. When asked about her experiences, she stated, ” You meet people and you help others. You always wonder how non-profits do all this and now you are a part of it.” Miren is so committed, she will continue working as a volunteer as long as she is in El Paso. Congratulations to our new ambassadors.
