Gonzales, was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in the early 1940\u2019s. He was born into a large migrant farmworker family of six sisters and one brother.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gonzales\u2019 mother, Luciana (Lucy) Canales-Gonzales, and his father, Rosalio (Ross) Gonzales, dedicated their lives to their children\u2019s well-being. They were determined that their children would attain the necessary education to be capable of escaping the physical hardships of migrant labor.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. and Mrs. Gonzales were convinced that the path to a more secure future for their children was one that included a lifetime of educational endeavor.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, all the Gonzales children grew up knowing that the minimum level of education expected of them was a high school diploma. All of the reached that level of education, and then some.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Dr.-G-Athletics-300x145.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"145\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9615\" \/>Joe Gonzales was destined to pursue a much higher level of education. After high school, the future \u201cDr. G\u201d went on to attend Delta Junior College where he received an associate\u2019s degree. After that, he went on to attend Michigan State University where he received both a bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degree.
